Bill Shearer Retirement

After nearly two decades of dedicated service as the Kingpin Service and Warranty Representative, Bill Shearer has decided to retire from his technical position and will be stepping back from his tools.

Bill has played an instrumental role in our company since its inception, and his contributions have set a gold standard for service and warranty requirements. His expertise, professionalism, and unwavering commitment have greatly influenced our operations, helping us achieve the success we enjoy today.

While Bill will be moving into a more relaxed position, he will continue to be part of our team as a brand ambassador. We are excited about this new chapter and are confident that Bill's insights and passion will continue to benefit our company in his new capacity.

Bill will still be contactable via social media and the kingpin website.

If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to reach out.

VULCAN 500 PROTOTYPES

New product development seems like a good way to start the year.

Some of you reading this may have heard that we’ve been busy with new reel designs for a while now. Whilst we have a couple of projects in the pipeline, the one that has taken off is the Vulcan 500. We made some prototypes last year and have been testing them both in the shop and on the rivers.

The amount of man hours and the current machine time to  scan the blades into the unique twist design is currently extremely high. We are working on ways to make this commercial viable, primarily with machine tool paths with the latest CAD/CAM package we have recently purchased. The end product will incorporate the blade design and be developed from these prototypes shown.

Feedback will be appreciated.

Red, White & Blue

Two takes on the Red, White & Blue theme.

Hard to choose, we think the White handles variant may just have it!

All the Best for 2023

2022 for Kingpin Reels was our best year to date. We have an amazing team who love the product backed up by Bill in Canada & Chris in the US who are both doing a sterling job with customer service.

Below is a snapshot of the year passed, we spent a lot of time and energy refining our current product line. The biggest change for the year has been the introduction of the new backplate & ratchet system, these have been very well received by our customers. We achieved this by initially updating our work holding devices before developing all our programs, tooling etc.

2023 will start for us with our current trajectory of refining our product line. Hopefully later in the year we will get chance to pick up on some of our prototype work.

Happy New Year!

We would like to share with you our plans for 2022

We are going to streamline the reel sizes we offer from 5 to 3;

  1. 4 1/4" (425)

  2. 4 3/4" (475)

  3. 5" (500)

The Imperial 575 will be discontinued. We still have limited stock, but that stock will not be replenished once sold.

The R2-525/R2-475 will be replaced by a new R2 size - R2-500. The R2-500 will come with a crown screw and tool as standard at a cost of $650.

These changes will allow us to focus on our most popular reels and better serve our customers!
